Politics of dissidence in Assam by section of Congress MLAs, led by charismatic and popular Himanta Biswa Sharma, has finally ended with his resignation as well as removal of two other ministers from Assam Cabinet, Mr. Ardhendu De and Siddique Ahmed.
The dissidence has been going on for almost last years in Assam, which is rumoured to have started after arrival of Gaurav Gogoi in Assam Politics. Gaurav Gogoi is son of Assam Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi and has recently been elected as Congress MP from Kaliabor Constituency in recently concluded Loksabha Election in Assam.
Himanta Biswa Sharma is regarded as highly efficient minister, good administrator in Assam, though his critics criticise him for his arrogance.
Himanta Biswa Sharma enjoys support from many young Congress MLAs while few senior Congress leaders had deserted him after Congress High Command had finally refused to accede to their demands.
With resignation of Himanta Biswa Sharma and removal of other rebel ministers, most probably, Assam government would now be back to business as usual, but Himanta Biswa Sharma will be surely missed in Education and Health departments.
