A National Institute of Fashion Technology is likely to be set up in Arunachal Pradesh at Sagalee as per Arunachal Times Report. In a meeting with Chief Minister Nabam Tuki in New Delhi on 9th Jul 2013, the Union Minister for Textiles Dr. KS Rao said that NIFT, which is a premier fashion designing, management and technology institute of the country, would be set up in Sagalee, in Papum Pare district, to cater to the students from different parts of the region.
While assuring his support and co-operation towards early implementation of the establishment of NIFT, Dr. Rao also mentioned that the Director General of NIFT would be entrusted with the responsibility of working out the modalities with the State Government.
The development comes in the wake of the policy level thrust of the Chief Minister to create centres of national excellence in the state to increase the scope of employability and world class training to students.

This institute would surely help ethnic tribes in whole of North Eastern Region which is already rich in various weaving designs. With training in NIFT, most probably this natural talents could be harnessed more which will help whole of the society as a whole.
