Mary Kom lost, settles for bronze

Mary Kom, a genuine hope for Olympic Gold medal has lost her bout against Nicola Adams of United Kingdom 6 -11. Mary Kom had fought bravely till the end, but Nicola Adams had the upper hand today from very beginning.

Mary Kom will now get a bronze medal increasing India’s medal tally to 3 bronzes in Olympics in London 2012. With Mary Kom’s loss, many Indians are disappointed! But it may be mentioned that, Mary Kom weighs just 48KGs and her category is 49KGs, but she had to compete at 52KGs weight category in Olympics as this time the 49KGs weight category was not there.

She had to contest against taller and much stringer opponents, still she manages to reach semi final in first ever Women’s Boxing in an Olympics.

Also, finally #MaryKom has started trending in Twitter India. She apologised to Indians for losing the match, first Indian player to do so, winning respect from all.

She is mother of two and came back to boxing after gap of two years.

Mary Kom did not look settled in the match against Nicola Adams who was enjoying lot of crowd support including British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Now all hopes rest on Devendro Singh, who is fighting tonight in quarter final.

please man don’t make it sound sympathetic. Mary Kom is a good boxer. she deservs a good tab on her shoulder. but if you saw the match you might have noticed that her oponent was really too much for her. ya sure that Mary fought it very well, but she was definately outskilled. I am from north east and support Mary but will have to give the cradit to a good boxer like Adams. It was our bad luck that Mary had to with the world champ in semifinal. it would have better if it was the finals. But I am proud that we have a bronze. all the other well renowned players couldn’t hold on too their except some like Mary annd hats off to her excellent perfomance.
