NDFB Strikes : 8 BSF Jawan killed

In a deadly ambush by banned outfit NDFB ( National Democratic Front of Bodoland) killed 8 BSF ( Border Security Force) jawans in Ultapani, near Assam-Bhutan Border on 14th Mar 2011 evening at around 6PM. The NDFB militants attacked the BSF convoy when it was on patrolling duty in the forest area.

According to official sources, Ranjan Daimari led Anti-talk faction of NDFB had carried out the ambush. Nine jawans were also injured seriously and some are being treated in Lower Assam Hospital and Research Centre at Bongaigaon, while others were taken to Kokrajhar civil hospital for treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Bijoy Kumar, S K Sharma, Arabinda Dere, Bolaram Lamba, Santa Ramthree, Naresh Kumar, Kuber Bora and Hira Singh.A combing operation has been launched by the security forces, including the Army along the Indo-Bhutan border, to nab the culprits.The patrol was on way from Bangladoba in Chirang district of Assam to Ultapani in Kokrajhar when it was ambushed.

Almost the same time, ULFA attacked Rajiv Bhavan, Congress HQ in Guwahati. With these violent incidence, many fear some violence in the coming Assam Assembly election in April.
