Imphal blast ahead of Indian PM visit kills one

A powerful IED blast at the gate of ongoing Manipur Sangai Festival venue at Hafta Kangjeibung ground in Manipur’s Imphal East district has killed one rickshaw-puller and injured two women. Police suspect that the bomb was given to the rickshaw-puller by militant of Kangleipak Communist Party (MC) to leave the bomb at the festival site.

The deceased rickshawpuller has been identified as Md Kora who hailed from Mayang Imphal Irong in Imphal West district and presently resided in a rented house at Hatta here.

Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is likely to visit Imphal on Saturday, 3rd December 2011. The blast site is about 60 metres away from the City Convention Centre, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

There was a good news about strife torn Manipur as the ongoing economic blockade was lifted and theis bomb blast shook the state again.
