Uttam Teron makes it to India Today’s 35 youth icons in India

Uttam Teron, the person behind Parijat Academy at Pamohi village just outskirt of Guwahati city has made it to the list of 35 Indian youth icons. Uttam Teron has established Parijat Academy in 2003 for four poor children in Pamohi village with Rs. 800 which has now more than 500 students along with 17 staff members.

“We thought such an education center would help the children and if we try to focus on their various discipline it will benefit them to move forward. They can go for further studies and be able to write, they will be able to give their signature instead of thumb impression while opening bank accounts. By birth, education is the right of the children”, Uttam Teron speaks.

The school now has computer used by under privileged children, who without Uttam Teron, would not have never gone to school. Uttam Teron has given them hope of a bright future with education.

Parijat Academy has been a success story in creating awareness of education in tribal villages around Pamohi. The admission fees is just Rs. 2 while there is no monthly fees for any student. The school is run on donation from well wishers.

This school is also raising awareness of health care in the locality.

Uttam Teron is a truly youth icon of India.
